Island set for new electric car charging bays

New public electric car charging bays are set to be installed in Guernsey, the States has said.
Officials said, subject to planning permission, eight new bays would be installed across the Odeon and Salerie car parks.
The States said two new charging bays for shared mobility would also be installed, enabling people to book shared vehicles on demand.
Laura Oxburgh, head of on-island travel and transport implementation, said the number of electric vehicles on the island had "tripled since 2020".
She added this highlighted "their increasing popularity and therefore the need to make sure that we have the supporting charging infrastructure in place".
Ms Oxburgh said Evie was the current local provider who would be granted permits for the spaces.
