Attempted murder probe after man seriously injured
Detectives have launched an attempted murder investigation after a man suffered serious head injuries in an attack in Leeds.
According to West Yorkshire Police, two men unloading shopping from a car in Tempest Road, Beeston, were attacked by a lone suspect just after 20:30 GMT on Tuesday.
One of the victims, a man aged 22, was beaten with a blunt weapon and taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Police said the second victim was left shaken but uninjured.
Det Chief Insp Stacey Atkinson said a number of inquiries were ongoing following the "very serious assault".
"We are exploring possible motives for the attack and due to the nature of the injuries inflicted, are treating the matter as an attempted murder," she said.
"Our suspect was described as wearing dark clothing and a face covering and we want to speak with anyone who saw a man fitting this description running down Dawson Road or in the Tempest Road and Tempest View areas.
Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
