A man who amassed more than 1,500 indecent images of children has been handed a suspended jail term.

Artur Majewski, from Pershore, Worcestershire, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of a child and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image of an animal at a previous hearing at Worcester Crown Court.

He was sentenced on Friday to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Majewski was also issued with a sexual offender's notice and a sexual harm prevention order, both for 10 years.

The 50-year-old was also ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and complete a rehabilitation programme.

After the hearing, Det Sgt Peter Wheeler of West Mercia Police said Majewski had between the years 2014 and 2023 collected 21 category A images of children, 59 category B images of children and 1488 category C images of children.

He said Majewski was arrested last November after an online child exploitation team found the images on his computer.

"Majewski possessed a considerable number of images over a lengthy period of time," the officer said.

"The sheer number of these images, and the sickening depictions they show, demonstrate Majewski's harmful sexual interest in children.

"It is vital we continue to prevent further harm caused by offenders like Majewski and the team is working diligently to crack down on their damaging behaviour."
