Handbag burglars tunnel into shop in £250k heist
CheshirePoliceAbout £250,000 in luxury handbags has been stolen from a store by thieves who gained access through a hole they created from the property next door.
Cheshire Police said the three suspects appeared to have accessed the shop via the chimney at St James House in New Road, Prestbury, Cheshire, at about 23:40 BST on Sunday.
They are thought to have entered a disused building adjacent to the shop an hour before, and created a hole in the adjoining wall which led to the neighbouring store through the chimney.
Det Con Clare Slattery appealed for help trying to track down those behind the burglary and "the whereabouts of the items that were stolen".
The force said the offenders had stolen a number of high-value designer handbags, with a total estimated cost of about £250,000.
Det Con Clare Slattery said: "Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would urge anyone who witnessed this incident or saw anything suspicious to get in touch with us.
"The same goes for anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV which might aid our investigation."
