Man arrested after forklift hits multiple vehicles

A man has been arrested after multiple vehicles were damaged by a forklift truck, police have said.
Devon and Cornwall Police said it had received numerous calls at about 21:40 BST on Thursday about a forklift truck damaging up to five vehicles as it was driven along Queen Street and Quay Road in Newton Abbot, Devon.
Police said there had been people in one of the cars when the forklift truck approached and made contact but they had escaped "by the time their vehicle was lifted and flipped".
The force said officers had arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of dangerous driving, drink-driving and criminal damage.

A spokesperson for Newton Abbot Fire Station said a crew had been called to deal with a fuel leak from a car in the Brunel Industrial Estate.
They said when the crew arrived it had found "an unusual road traffic collision being managed as a police incident, involving a forklift and a private motor vehicle".
The fire service said when the crew arrived at the scene all people were free of a car and the forklift and none of them were injured.
Firefighters removed the oil and fuel and isolated the battery of the car so it was safe to be moved, they added.
On Friday morning the police said the arrested man was in custody.
