Highest council tax rise in North Lincs for years

Households in North Lincolnshire are to see the highest council tax increase in a number of years.
North Lincolnshire Council's 2025/26 budget was agreed unanimously during a meeting of the full council on Thursday, with a tax rise of 4.89% on the way.
Rob Waltham, the Conservative leader of the council, said the budget showed the authority's "unstinting commitment to enhancement of community activities".
The opposition Labour group had proposed a 4.99% rise, which would be the highest increase that could be made without calling a local referendum on the issue.
Waltham said that "we should never lose sight of people who support our communities", and added that taxpayers continued to be "sovereign" in North Lincolnshire.
"In the interests of our residents, we are going to make sure we keep our promise and keep council tax as low as possible," he added.
But opposition leader Len Foster said: "We're on the verge, two to three years down the road, of declaring ourselves bankrupt."
