A teenager accused of murdering his father and attempting to kill a woman and a boy has appeared in court.

Fabio Botros, 19, appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Emad Samir Botros, 57, was pronounced dead at a house in Hartfield Avenue, Brighton, on Tuesday. The woman and the boy were found injured outside the property.

Mr Botros, of Hartfield Avenue, was remanded in custody and will appear at Lewes Crown Court on Friday.

The woman and boy were taken to hospital and have both since been discharged.

Det Ch Insp Mark Cullimore, from Sussex Police, said it was "a shocking and tragic incident", and the victims and defendant were known to each other.
