A new exhibition by the artist David Hockney is about to open at a newly-refurbished museum.

The temporary "Pieced Together" event at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford runs from 15 January until the spring.

The displays feature photography and film by Hockney, who grew up in Bradford and went to art school in the city. The video installation captures Woldgate Woods in East Yorkshire through all four seasons.

Jo Quinton-Tulloch, the museum's director, said: "Reopening the museum with this remarkable exhibition feels incredibly fitting."

She added that Hockney had "continually pushed the boundaries of art" and the exhibition "provides a unique opportunity to experience this lesser-seen side to his work".

Alongside this immersive work, the exhibition will explore the artistic and technical parallels of Hockney's early 'joiner' photocollages, two of which are part of the museum's collection.

One of the joiners on display shows the museum in its early days as the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in 1985, and has not been on display for 25 years.

The exhibition continues until 18 May and visitors can see related screenings in Pictureville Cinema.
