A man in his 60s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Wolverhampton - a crash which led to an hours-long road closure.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on the city's ring road, at the junction of the A4150 and Worcester Street at 07:24 GMT on Friday.

The ring road from Penn Island was closed for several hours but had since reopened, West Midlands Police said.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and assisted with inquiries, the force added.
