Dean Windass: 'I have ADHD as well as dementia'

Former Premier League footballer Dean Windass has revealed he has been diagnosed with ADHD.
The former Hull City, Bradford City, Aberdeen and Middlesbrough forward said he was tested for the condition after a brain scan last year showed he had dementia.
"I thought God what's going on," he said.
"I've dementia, now I've got ADHD and what else have I got?"
Windass was talking to the BBC following the launch of his second autobiography, which outlines his struggles with drinking, depression and suicidal thoughts after retiring from the game.
He said the ADHD diagnosis made sense when he looked back on his life.
"Even at school I couldn't process things," he said.
"I can read and write, but if I read a book and you asked me what that book was about I wouldn't know."
The 56-year-old played for 12 clubs during a professional career spanning 19 years.
Since he went public earlier this year with his dementia diagnosis, he said he had been contacted by many former players worried they might have the condition.
"I'm trying to get as many footballers [as possible] to go for a scan," he said.
Speaking of his own situation, he said he had been "overwhelmed" by the outpouring of support, adding: "I'm trying to be as positive as I can".

He said the highlight of his career was scoring the only goal in the Wembley play-off final in 2008 which saw his hometown club Hull City promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Windass said thinking about the goal still made him "break down".
"It was the most important goal of my career, probably not the best, but the most important," he said.
"It was a special day in my life, in everybody's life in Hull."
He added that he was given the BBC Radio Humberside commentary of his match-winning strike as a ringtone, but had to stop using it as "every time my phone rang I started crying".
