The vacant building in Princess House, Northampton, could be converted into flats

A proposal has been submitted to convert a vacant office building into residential apartments.

The plan involves transforming Princess House on Cliftonville Road, Northampton, into 42 flats.

Most recently, the building was occupied by the Department for Work and Pensions as a Job Centre.

The developer, Prescon, said the site would include 55 parking spaces, accessible via The Avenue at the rear.

The vacant building is designated for office use, so it would require West Northamptonshire Council approval for residential conversion.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, a proposal was lodged in December 2024 to convert the building into an educational facility for the Elizabeth School of London.

However, that application was withdrawn in February.

Public comments on the new proposal can be submitted until 25 May.

A decision on the application is expected by 22 June.
