A man who was found seriously hurt in the grounds of a city centre castle has died.

Police were called to the scene in Norwich just before 10:00 GMT following reports a man was seen lying at the bottom of the bridge over Castle Gardens.

The man's injuries were consistent with a fall from height, Norfolk Police said.

Emergency services attended but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police said inquiries were under way and called for witnesses to get in touch.

The area was cordoned off but it was lifted shortly after 13:00. Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery has since reopened.
