The collision caused severe traffic delays on Tuesday morning

A man who was hurt in a collision involving a tanker suffered "life-threatening injuries", according to Northamptonshire Police.

The force has appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened on the A45 near Northampton on Tuesday.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw the incident on the eastbound carriageway, between Riverside and Barnes Meadow at about 03:10 BST.

Both carriageways of the A45 were closed for several hours after the collision.
