Body of missing Ilford woman found in Hampshire

The body of a 46-year-old woman who went missing a week ago has been found by police.

Yajaira Castro Mendez, from Ilford in east London, was reported missing on 31 May.

Her body was found in the Bolderwood area of the New Forest in Hampshire on Saturday, the force said.

Juan Toledo, 51, from south-east London, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Friday charged with her murder and was remanded into custody.

Det Insp Jay Gregory said: "This is a very sad development in the investigation and our thoughts are very much with Yajaira's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

He urged anyone with information about Ms Castro Mendez's death to contact police.
