One-way road introduced after calls for action
A new one way system to improve road safety and reduce traffic on a busy city road is set to be introduced.
Wolverhampton's Staveley Road will be made one-way southbound, from Dunstall Road to Waterloo Road, on Monday.
The move comes after residents called for action against vehicles unable to pass each other, resulting in congestion, conflict and reports of damage to other vehicles.
Parking bays will be provided on the east side of Staveley Road and some sections of double yellow lines on both sides will be removed to allow for more on street parking.
Wolverhampton City Council said the one-way system would also allow for an improved flow of traffic and remove the need for pavement parking.
Councillor Qaiser Azeem said: "I would ask people to help by always parking your vehicle on the carriageway and in a marked bay, observing parking and loading restrictions and storing waste containers on private land."
Loading restrictions and bollards will also be implemented to help prevent obstruction of the highway.
"We have listened to residents and businesses, and we will continue to work closely with the community as we monitor traffic and safety in the area," Mr Azeem added.
