Driving instructor gives car to pupil with new son
A driving instructor surprised a new father by giving him the car he learnt to drive in.
Steven Hunter from Hull, presented the Nissan Micra to his pupil Jack Price, 20, after he passed at the first time of asking.
Mr Hunter, 64, said Mr Price, who has a two-month-old son, was "overwhelmed" when told he did not want any money for it.
He added: "I know he is now putting it to good use as he uses it every day."
It is the third time the instructor, who has been teaching since 1987, has gifted a car to a pupil after upgrading to a newer model.
He used to trade the cars in but decided it would be more fulfilling to help drivers who might struggle to afford one.
"It's a feel-good thing," he added. "I like to gift the cars I no longer need as although they have had a lot of miles on the clock and are no longer suitable as teaching cars, they are good first cars for the pupils to have."
His latest gift may be his last, however, as Mr Hunter is making plans to retire in the next few years.
