Digital series to showcase best of history festival
A new digital festival featuring famous historians, broadcasters and authors is aiming to entertain fans through the cold winter months.
The Winter Warmer series will feature 50 online events including talks by Springwatch naturalist Chris Packham, TV chef Tom Kerridge and Countdown's Susie Dent.
The talks will be taken from the archive of Gloucester History Festival and will give people to chance to see the best of the festival at home "for the first time."
Organisers are encouraging people to "curl up with a hot drink" and enjoy the festival's best bits from the "warmth and comfort of their own home."
The programme has been curated by TV presenter, historian and Gloucester History Festival President, Professor Janina Ramirez - who said she "can't wait" to share the series.
The festival will also feature TV historian Dan Snow in conversation with Korean War veterans Brian Hamblett and the late Tommy Clough on the 75th anniversary of the conflict.
Brian and Tommy both served with the Glorious Glosters and were captured at the notorious Battle of the Imjin River, spending the following two years as Chinese prisoners of war.
Tickets for the Winter Warmer series go on sale on Friday 10th January, with festival running runs 24th January until 6th March.
