Dizzee Rascal visited Margate on Friday evening despite cancelling an impromptu gig.

Crowds gathered to see the chart-topping rapper who had urged fans to come to a free beachfront concert that was called off just hours before it was set to begin.

"Everyone lived happy ever after. See you in August at Dreamland," it added.

Music promoters Margate Summer Series said Dizzee Rascal had been forced to pull the plug on the concert, the Local Democracy Reporting Service reported.

In a public statement, it said: "Dizzee Rascal will be rescheduled due to filming taking place in Margate today.
