Coastal town gets 'game-changing' ambulance e-bike

An ambulance e-bike that will get paramedics to rural locations much faster has been described as a "real game-changer".

East of England Ambulance Service bought the e-bike for its Cycle Response Unit (CRU) in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk.

The service said it would allow its team of four paramedics to respond "faster and more efficiently".

It claimed response times would "improve significantly" as a result.

Ambulance e-bikes are equipped with a full range of life-saving medical equipment but in a compact form.

Andy Long, a Norfolk-based CRU paramedic, said: "The e-bike is a real game-changer.

"The extra power makes it easier to carry our equipment and navigate the hilly landscape much more effectively."

The e-bike was bought through funds raised by the Wells-next-the-Sea community and the East of England Ambulance Service Charity.

Kate Lott, head of the charity, added: "In situations where every moment counts, this e-bike could be the difference in getting our lifesavers to the hard-to-reach location in time."
