A prominent Green councillor has resigned to focus on his family, triggering a third county by-election.

Jamie Osborn was one of four Greens on Norfolk County Council, which had its elections postponed last month ahead of a planned reorganisation of local government.

Osborn, who also resigned from his seat on Norwich City Council, said he had always planned to stand down in May.

Earlier this month Conservative county councillor Julian Kirk joined Reform UK and resigned from his seat, whilst Labour MP Terry Jermy also stepped down from the council.

All three seats will be up for election, with a polling date likely to be 1 May.

Osborn was elected to the county council in 2021 and was one of four Greens serving on the authority.

He said he was proud to have campaigned for the city council to buy the Anglia Square shopping centre - and against plans for the Western Link road.

"It has been an enormous honour to represent Norwich's Mancroft ward for the last six years," he added.
