Seven charged over street fight stabbing

Seven men have been charged after a man was stabbed in the leg during a street fight.

A 31-year-old man was attacked at the junction of Hold Road and Edge Lane in Kensington, Liverpool, just after 22:00 GMT on 27 February, Merseyside Police said.

Ghalib Habibi, 18, of Toxteth, has been charged with wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and violent disorder.

He and six other men, who have also been charged with violent disorder, are expected to appear at Liverpool Crown Court later this month.

'Targeted attack'

Merseyside Police said an 18-year-old man from Fairfield in Liverpool who was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon was still being questioned.

Detectives appealed for people with information, footage or photos to come forward.

The victim was treated in hospital and has since been discharged.

Det Insp Natalie Charlesworth said: "We understand the concern that such an incident causes in our communities and we will continue to provide a visible presence in the area and respond to all information that comes in."

She said it was being treated as "a targeted attack".

Seven men have been charged over the incident:

  • Ghalib Habibi, 18, of Solway Street East, Toxteth, is charged with wounding with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon
  • Mohammed Tariq Saleh, 30 , of Salisbury Road, Wavertree, is charged with violent disorder
  • Sina Mohammadi, 24, of Preston Grove, Anfield, is charged with violent disorder
  • Homed Heydari, 31, of Gresham Street,Kensington, is charged with violent disorder
  • Samim Habib, 29, both of Gresham Street, Kensington, is charged with violent disorder
  • Fahad Al-Tharfiri, 19, of Fairclough Street, Liverpool, is charged with violent disorder
  • Fawad Habib, 31, of Laurel Road, Kensington, is charged with violent disorder

They are due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 31 March.
