A man has died after the van he was driving crashed with a stationary tanker on the motorway, police have said.

Officers said a tanker was reported to have broken down on the M40 northbound between junction 13 for Bishop's Tachbrook and junction 14 for Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, at 08:50 BST on Friday.

A white Peugeot van collided with the vehicle about 10 minutes later, Warwickshire Police said.

The driver of the van, a man in his 30s, died at the scene while the tanker driver was uninjured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
