A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murdering two elderly people who were found dead after a night-time house fire.

Police and firefighters were called at 04:00 BST on Monday to Heron Close in Alton, Hampshire.

A man aged in his 90s and a woman in her 80s were pronounced dead at the scene.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was now treating the blaze as a possible arson. The teenager, from Alton, remains in police custody.

The force also renewed an appeal for private video footage from CCTV, doorbell or dashcams.

It has also asked for witnesses who saw anyone behaving suspiciously in the area between midnight and 05:00 to get in contact.
