Closure orders issued after suspected drugs misuse

Two houses have been issued closure orders due to ongoing nuisance behaviour, including suspected drug misuse, antisocial behaviour, violence, and general disorder.
The orders were granted for the tenanted houses in Mandarin Way, Kingsteignton on February 12 and 13 at Newton Abbot Magistrates' Court.
One property received a partial closure order, allowing only named residents to enter, while the other was given a full closure order, preventing any entry.
Both orders will last for three months.
'Effective step'
Insp James Johnson, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said closure orders were a last resort after attempts to engage with residents failed.
"Granting closure orders is not a decision that is taken lightly," he said.
"The first thing we do is engage with residents to stop criminal behaviour from happening in the first place.
"If this isn't successful, we have to look at other options to tackle the issue, such as closure orders.
"We know this isn't a long-term solution, but it's an effective step in the right direction.
"To prevent disorder from reoccurring, our officers and partner agencies will continue to engage with the tenants to address the long-term issues surrounding the properties."
He also thanked everyone who came forward to report information to police.
Affected tenants have been directed to support services for safeguarding and crime prevention, said police.
