Hot weather boosts butterfly count at Kew Gardens
More butterflies have been recorded at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew so far this summer than during the entirety of 2024.
Natural habitat supervisor Ru Brookes, who is carrying out a survey of butterflies, said more than 670 individual butterflies had been recorded at the west London site since April.
"We've got a lot of butterflies in the meadow. The heat allows them to get out, feed and breed; there's lots of nectar available for the adults," Ru said.
