A police force has paid tribute to a dog that died from an injury it received whilst saving someone's life.

Police Dog (PD) Kuga injured his paw while he helped find a severely injured missing person in December, Warwickshire Police said.

The injury led to the discovery of a condition which had left PD Kuga in chronic pain, and despite "trying every treatment possible", veterinary advice resulted in the decision for him to be put sleep, officers said.

His handler Lucy said: "He was brave, strong and loyal and with him by your side you knew everything was going to be OK."

"PD Kuga was a force to be reckoned with and you usually heard him before you saw him," she added.
