Library reopens after 'building issue' resolved

A library has reopened after work to resolve a "serious building issue".
Cumberland Council announced over the weekend that Carlisle Library, in The Lanes shopping centre, would be closed until further notice.
In an update on social media on Tuesday, the local authority said library staff and contractors had worked to "quickly" remedy the problem.
The library is undergoing a £3.3m renovation. The work, funded by the government, includes electrical rewiring and the creation of a children's zone, study spaces and adult learning classrooms.
The first floor is open during the current stage of the scheme, while the second floor remains closed for refurbishment.
Work began in January and is expected to take up to a year.
