Police out of leads after man found dead in school

Months after a man was found dead in a derelict school in Stoke-on-Trent, police are still unable to say who he is.

The man, who was about 40 to 50 years old, was found in a building in Elgood Lane, Goldenhill, on 25 January.

Officers have spent months working to identify him, and have trawled CCTV, forensic and DNA records, but said they have "exhausted all lines of enquiry".

Staffordshire Police is treating the man's death is unexplained, and detectives have not found any suspicious circumstances.

Investigators have worked out the man was in Newcastle-under-Lyme high street on 2 January.

They said the man, who had a large build and was bald with a grey beard, was wearing a Nike coat with a white hood, grey Nike tracksuit bottoms, light blue Nike trainers, a black cap and a shoulder bag.

An appeal has been made for any information that can help to identify him, and a CCTV image has been released.

"If you recognise the man in the picture, get in touch," a police spokesman said.
