Veterans invited to join monthly breakfast club

Veterans of the armed forces in Wolverhampton are being invited to join a monthly social club.
The Wolverhampton Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club in Bilston gives people the chance to meet other former personnel and tackle loneliness, councillor Craig Collingswood said.
He attended a recent meeting at The Bankfield Inn, where the group gathers at 09:30 on the last Saturday of each month, and described it as a "brilliant initiative".
The ethos of the club, set up in 2019, is "mutual support" and membership is free, with veterans just paying for their breakfast, the council says.
"It offers veterans and serving members the chance to enjoy the company of other armed forces personnel past and present, helps to combat loneliness and enables veterans to 'return to the tribe'," Collingwood, chair of Wolverhampton's Armed Forces Covenant Partnership Board, said.
The club also meets socially for regimental and association dinners, nights out, barbecues, parties and Christmas events.
Currently, veterans could also travel for free on buses and get discounted rail travel for up to six months as part of a scheme by Network West Midlands, the council said.
