A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 17-year-old was stabbed in West Sussex.

Emergency services were called to a property in Martyrs Avenue in Langley Green, near Crawley, at about 21:50 BST on Thursday.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition, Sussex Police said.

The arrested teenager, aged 17, remains in custody, along with a 37-year-old local woman who has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

There has been an increased police presence in the area

Supt Imran Asghar said: "We absolutely understand the impact this incident has had on the community and our officers are working tirelessly to understand exactly what has happened and hold those responsible to account."

He added that there had been increased police patrols in the area since the incident and urged any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.
