Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was hit by a car that allegedly mounted a pavement.

Humberside Police said a 22-year-old man suffered "life-changing" injuries in the incident which happened on Selby Street, Hull, at about 11:15 BST on Wednesday.

A force spokesperson said officers had responded to reports of an incident involving a white Ford Transit van and a black Mercedes shortly before the pedestrian was struck.

The suspects, aged 32 and 64, were both later released pending further investigation, police said.

"For reasons not yet established, the driver of the Mercedes allegedly mounted the footpath colliding with a pedestrian and brick wall," the force said.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact Humberside Police.
