TV music creator puts success down to his teacher

A music producer working on a Swedish TV dancing show has attributed his success to a music teacher in Guernsey.
James Sinclair-Stott is making pre-recorded music tracks for the Swedish show Let's Dance, which is based on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
He said he needed critical listening to write the cover songs which he was taught by Marilyn Pugh for his music GCSE at the Grammar School.
He said: "When I've been doing this I'm like 'this is what Mrs Pugh was teaching us' and now I'm actually using it!"
'It takes me back'
Mr Sinclair-Stott has lived in Nashville, USA for the past eight years.
He said he had been approached by a TV producer in Sweden who was looking for music for the dance show.
He said: "They can't really use the original versions of songs so they need to be chopped up into very specific arrangements.
"The hardest part is to listen to a song, strip it down and say 'OK there's this instrument and that one, this is how they're working and now I need to go and recreate that'.
"It takes me back to music GCSE with Marilyn Pugh at grammar school.
"Mrs Pugh was always playing us music then asking us to identify instruments.
"It was really hard!"
Let's Dance aired last weekend and Mr Sinclair-Stott said: "It's really cool hearing my music in Sweden."
